Blog Post: Delaware

Spring is horseshoe crab season here in Delaware!

This my local beach in Milton. Sometimes we give the horseshoe crabs a hand and flip them over back onto their feet so they can return to the ocean. Because everyone needs a little help now and then!

“Lone Olive Tree” Provence oil/panel, 6 x 8 inches, available

From Paris to Provence, this beautiful country holds a special place in my heart for my grandfather was from the city of Nancy in the Lorraine. One of my earliest memories include him teaching me to sing “Frère Jacques” on the front steps of our house. My father is fond of saying that grandpa ‘knew his way around the kitchen’ and would often make crêpes for the family for breakfast. We’d stroll into the kitchen at 9am and he’d offer a hearty ‘Good Afternoon!’ in his heavy accent with a smile on his face. I can hear his voice to this day every time I take out the crêpe pan. As for my French language skills, I still have much to learn but that doesn’t stop me from crossing the pond every chance I get.

2016 “Montauk Point” oil/panel, 6 x 8 inches, available

I grew up on Long Island and my favorite places to go as a kid were the beaches on the east end. On a recent visit, I made it all the way out to Montauk Point, with paint and easel in hand. The clouds were racing by that day and the wind was blowing very hard, as it does most days at the tip of the island.
